The Challenge
A consumer electronics brand was developing a premium smart home hub. They needed to iterate through multiple design versions quickly to test ergonomics and thermal airflow. Once the design was finalized, they needed a high-end, aesthetic finish for the mass-produced version to compete with top-tier market rivals.The Xingineer Solution
Process: 3D Printing (SLA) into High-Pressure Die Casting.
Phase 1 (Prototyping): We produced highly detailed SLA 3D printed models within 24 hours for the design team to validate the form factor.
Phase 2 (Production): For the final product base, we transitioned to Zinc Die Casting to provide a premium “heavy” feel and better heat dissipation.
Finishing: The parts underwent bead blasting and powder coating to achieve a matte, fingerprint-resistant surface.
Result: Xingineer served as the one-stop partner for the entire product lifecycle. The client eliminated the need to manage multiple vendors, streamlining their supply chain and launching the product 30 days faster than projected.
